AIZAWL, Feb 28: Connectivity between Mizoram and neighbouring Tripura has received a major boost with the inauguration of key bridge projects in the western part of the state, including the strategic Lengtekai or “Faith Bridge” over the Tlawng River in Mamit district.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated the Lengtekai Bridge on February 17, 2026, while another newly constructed bridge in the West Phaileng sector was opened earlier this year to improve road links towards the Tripura border.

Officials said the new infrastructure would significantly improve movement of goods and passengers between Mizoram and Tripura, particularly during the monsoon season when older Bailey bridges often became unsafe or unusable.
Built at a cost of ₹43.83 crore, the 100-metre-long Lengtekai Bridge now provides a stronger and more reliable route connecting Aizawl, Lengpui Airport and border areas of Mamit district. The projects are expected to support trade, local businesses and transport connectivity in the western corridor of the state.
Residents welcomed the development, saying the new bridges would reduce travel time and improve access to markets, healthcare and essential services in remote regions bordering Tripura and Bangladesh.
