GUWAHATI: Former Nagaland Governor, who served the state from March 2013 to June 2014, was found dead at his residence in Shimla on Wednesday evening. Police recovered a suicide note from Ashwani Kumar’s residence.

We found a suicide note in which he wrote that he is ending his life due to disease and disability, of his own free will. He said his soul is embarking on a new journey and everyone needed to be happy, and that there should be no rituals or ceremonies,”  Sanjay Kundu, Director General of Police (DGP), Himachal Pradesh told media.

Ashwini Kumar, an IPS officer of the 1973 batch also served as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director.
