Digboi, May 15: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the site where the incident of grenade blast took place on Friday at Tingrai market near Digboi in Tinsukia district and took stock of the situation. He also visited the house of Surajit Talukdar, who lost his life in the incident and extended his condolences to the aggrieved family.
Union Minister of State for Food Processing Rameswar Teli, Tea Tribes Welfare Department Minister Sanjay Kishan, MLAs Taranga Gogoi, Bhaskar Sharma, Rupesh Gowala, Suren Phukan, Bolin Chetia, DC and SP Tinsukia, SDO (Civil) and SDPO Margherita accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
Later speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister strongly condemned the incident and urged all sections to maintain peace and harmony in the society. He informed that police have been directed to take strict action against the perpetrators of the crime while he announced Rs 5 lakh
ex-gratia to families of both the victims who lost their lives in the incident.
He also said that direction has been issued to district administration to provide appropriate medical treatment to those injured in the incident. Chief Minister Dr. Sarma urged all stakeholders for maintaining peace and harmony in the society.
