Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the <strong>Ramakrishna Mission College in Sohra<\/strong>, the first such institution in the Northeast and the second college in the town after Sohra Government College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Affiliated with <strong>Captain Williamson Sangma State University<\/strong>, the college will initially offer Arts and Science streams and aims to provide <strong>accessible and value-based education<\/strong> to students from Sohra and nearby rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sangma stressed that investing in human capital is the government\u2019s top priority, noting that infrastructure holds little meaning without people\u2019s development. Despite Meghalaya spending <strong>15% of its annual budget\u2014\u20b93,600 crore\u2014on education<\/strong>, he said structural challenges built over decades require continued reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chief Minister said the government has begun rationalising schools and is creating a dedicated system to support <strong>ad-hoc and SSA teachers<\/strong> for better stability. He assured full support to the Ramakrishna Mission, announcing <strong>electricity for all schools<\/strong> and phased action to improve <strong>road connectivity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sangma urged all stakeholders to prioritise students\u2019 welfare and encouraged learners to uphold values such as <strong>hard work, discipline, and gratitude<\/strong>, in line with Swami Vivekananda\u2019s teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Dipanjana D<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shillong, Nov 19: Chief Minister Conrad K.
