Imphal, Oct 28 , 2020: Six persons, including a woman, died of Covid-19 at different hospitals and home isolation in the past 24 hours, taking the toll in the state to 156, a state health department said today.
The deceased were residents of Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts, it added.
During the same time, 205 persons, including 198 civilians and 7 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, tested positive for the virus at different laboratories, increasing the total number cases in the State to 17,809.
As 13,420 patients have been discharged from Covid care centres after recovering from the disease, 212 of them since last night, the total number of active cases stands at 4233, the statement said, adding that the recovery rate is 75.35 percent.
The newly infected civilians are residents of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Kakching, Senapati, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Jiribam and Chandel districts.
All of them have no recent travel history, said the statement signed by the department’s additional director and spokesperson Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
They are being shifted to Covid care facilities for treatment, and all necessary measures like contact tracing and containment have been taken up to combat the virus spread, continued the statement.
On the other hand, a three-member central team arrived in Imphal today afternoon to study of the overall Covid situation in the State, sources said.
The team will meet the State chief secretary, senior health officials and authorities of the centre-run RIMS and state-run JNIMS hospitals in Imphal before leaving the state October 30, the sources added
