Imphal : Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Sunday Condemned the alleged gangrape and murder of a 14-year-old girl in Imphal and robbery of Rs 1.15 crore from a private firm that led to the killing of an employee in Churachandpur and assured fitting punishment to the perpetrators at the earliest.

the police have been putting in their best efforts to crack both the cases and he has been personally monitoring the progress of investigations round the clock. So far police has arrested six suspects in connection with the alleged rape of the minor girl. He also assured that dedicated efforts would be put in to file charge-sheets against them in less than two months under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Speaking about the killing of Arambam Ranjan Meitei (37), a staff of SBI’s cash replenishment agency who was killed by miscreants during the robbery, he informed that three suspects have been picked up for questioning and investigations are going on. He also had a talk with the wife of the victim over the phone and assured justice, added the chief minsiter.
Informing that some crucial leads have been gathered from the CCTV footage, he said that he had also instructed the director general of police, L M Khaute to visit Churachandpur to supervise the investigations.
While assuring to provide monetary assistance to the victim’s family as per the government rules, the CM sought cooperation from the public in nabbing the culprits.
