The project has been developed over <strong>162 bighas of land<\/strong> reportedly freed from encroachment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Located about <strong>140 km from Guwahati<\/strong>, the sprawling complex now features several architecturally distinctive structures, including what is being described as the <strong>world\u2019s tallest Guru Asana<\/strong>, an art centre shaped like traditional cymbals, a khol-inspired research centre, a boat-shaped skill development complex, and a theatre modelled on the traditional Assamese <em>japi<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/netimes.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/than2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-741\" width=\"418\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/netimes.news\/assam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/than2.png 818w, https:\/\/netimes.news\/assam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/than2-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/netimes.news\/assam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/than2-768x482.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 418px) 100vw, 418px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at the ceremony, the Home Minister referred to the state government\u2019s anti-encroachment initiatives, stating that more than one lakh bighas of land have been cleared under the current administration. Shah described Batadrava Than as a symbol of the inclusive and humanistic spiritual essence of the <em>Nav-Vaishnavite Dharma<\/em> propagated by Sankardeva.<br>Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal termed the initiative a \u201ccultural resurrection,\u201d while Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted its potential to strengthen global recognition of Assam\u2019s cultural heritage and Sankardeva\u2019s teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva (1449\u20131568), founder of the <strong>Ekasarana Dharma<\/strong>, is revered for reshaping Assamese society through his spiritual philosophy, literary contributions, performing arts, and the establishment of the Namghar\u2013Satra tradition.
