Charaideo, Assam: Suriya Mon, a compilation of lyrical works by author and cultural enthusiast Mitali Gogoi, was formally released during the valedictory ceremony of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Sonari Jatiya Vidyalaya in Charaideo district.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Jogananda Bora, Education Secretary of Jatiya Vidyalaya; Sunil Dutta, Rati Prabha Gogoi, Juri Devi Phukan, Bani Changmai, Naren Rajkhowa, Nirmal Saikia, and Bimal Phukan, among others.

Renowned singer and cultural activist Bani Changmai released the book and expressed appreciation for Gogoi’s work. “I was deeply moved reading ‘Suriya Mon’. The lyrics are exceptional and heartfelt. Mitali’s songs will remain as a cultural record. I wish her continued success,” he stated.

Former president of Lekhika Sangstha, Assam, and former principal of Sonari College, Dr. Rati Prabha Gogoi, described the book as a meaningful contribution.“Mitali is a committed cultural activist, and ‘Suriya Mon’ reflects her dedication. The themes span identity, society, culture, and the aspirations of a progressive Assam,” she said.

Pride Assam Publications, publishers of Suriya Mon, noted that the anthology captures the author’s emotional and artistic journey. “Every song reflects lived experience and sincerity. The book stands not just as a literary work, but as a personal journey shaped by memories and emotions,” the publication house said in a statement.

The publishers added that the work is expected to resonate with a wide readership and expressed hope that the compilation will inspire the author to continue creating meaningful work.
