Guwahati: The Assam Health Department has withdrawn mandatory on arrival Covid tests for air passengers. From next week onwards, air passengers travelling within Assam and those travelling between northeast states will no longer require mandatory COVID-19 testing. The decision has been taken in view of the decreasing number of active and new Covid19 cases in the state.
This was announced by Assam health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through a social media post on Wednesday. The minister further added that incoming flight passengers from outside the NE region will still have to undergo the COVID-19 test at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI Airport) in Guwahati instead of Sarusajai Stadium.
