ITANAGAR, 5 Jun: Various parts of Arunachal Pradesh witnessed incessant rains since last three days triggering landslides and flash floods in various parts of the state, blockages and landslides were also witnessed in various locations.
Most of the rivers in the state are flowing above the danger level. A three-year-old child was washed away near police colony in Itanagar on Sunday evening and her body was later fished out, police said. A landslide near Civil Secretariat in Itanagar disrupted road communication within the city for a long time on Sunday. A power house near Raj Bhawan has also suffered massive damage and the private residence of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has also been affected due to landslide.
Several houses in various parts of the state were damaged. Meanwhile, Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) DC Talo Potom has requested the residents, especially those in vulnerable locations or landslide- and flood-prone areas, to shift to the relief camps or to safer locations. He informed that basic relief materials would be provided by the district administration at the relief camps.
In Nirjuli, a landslide occurred in Rayo village. The residents near the area were asked to shift to the relief camps or to any other safer locations.
