GUWAHATI: Assam’s Guwahati Police on Wednesday, September 9, helped a university student retrieve her lost documents in a short span of time.

Pratiksha Hazarika, a Cotton University student, posted a video on social media platforms seeking help to find her wallet, original certificates including academic records and passport and her mobile phone.

Her documents were reportedly stolen from her brother’s vehicle while she was appearing for an entrance examination for Delhi University. She was scheduled to appear for another entrance exam the next day for which she needed the documents.

Responding to the video and the appeal by netizens, Guwahati Police swiftly took action and recovered the documents within six hours.

As Guwahati police embarked on a search of the missing documents, netizens kept sharing the video. Soon, a youth contacted Prakriti through the phone number mentioned on the documents and handed them over to her.

“The documents have been recovered and handed over to the victim girl,” Guwahati Police posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Applauding the efforts of Guwahati Police, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta tweeted, “A student from Cotton University posted a video in desperation. She had lost her docs (snatched actually!) in Guwahati. …and she has an exam scheduled tomorrow! Her appeal touched many tweeple… including us. We just could not let her down. Result?!?”

After the recovery of her documents, Pratiksha Hazarika posted another video thanking netizens for sharing her story.
