The Assam Government has fixed the fee structure of private schools in the state for the academic year 2021-22 by issuing a notification under the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018 to regulate the fee structure passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly in 2018.

The notification issued by the Principal Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education, B Kalyan Chakraborty has specified categories for fees in different stages of schooling per annum. Schools have been asked to charge not more than Rs 27,000 for pre-primary and class I to V students and Rs 32,000 for class VI to X students, For students of classes XI & XII the fee has been fixed as Rs 37,000 for Science stream, Rs 32,000 for Arts stream, Rs 33,000 for Commerce and Rs 35,000 for other streams.

The fees include all types of fees including admission fees, tuition fees, infrastructure development fees, sports, cultural fees, etc. However transportation fees has been excluded.
