Assam finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced infrastructure projects worth over Rs. 10,000 crore. In a press conference on Saturday, he said that Assam government has approved an investment of over Rs 10,000 crore for implementing various infrastructure projects, including four medical colleges & two flyovers
Speaking to newspersons, he said that the investment will be the highest one-time capital investment in the history of Assam and work on the projects would start before December 2020.
Sarma also said that four new medical colleges would be set up in Charaideo, Biswanath, Goalpara besides another medical college, which will be the biggest in eastern India having 1300 beds, will be set up in Guwahati.
“Six new degree colleges (for Rs 100 crore) and 10 new law colleges (Rs 33 crore) will be set up in the next two months,” he said.
He also announced the construction of a new flyover in Guwahati.
The said flyover will connect the new road that is currently under construction at the Nilachal hill to the main road. This will facilitate easy transportation of commuters from the Guwahati Airport to the Kamakhya Temple.
The flyover will be 4 km long and constructed at an overall cost of Rs. 321 crore 41 lakh.
Upon its construction, the present road to Kamakhya temple from the foothills will be available for traffic commuting from the Bharalumukh side. The traffic from the airport side will have to take the flyover to Pandu and reach the temple by taking the new route.
The construction of this new flyover at Maligaon Chariali is to start within the next 15 to 20 days tentatively, said Sarma.
