To create a Guinness World Record, as many as 10,000 Bodo dancers will perform the traditional Bagurumba dance at Sarusajai in Guwahati during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 17.

Assam is preparing for a landmark cultural event, when nearly 10,000 artists will come together to present the traditional Bagurumba in the presence of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The mega performance is set to make an entry into the Guinness Book of Records, aiming to create a moment of great pride for the state and the Bodo community.

Celebrated as the “dance of butterflies,” Bagurumba beautifully reflects the Bodo community’s bond with nature and its vibrant cultural heritage. Artists from different parts of the state will unite on one stage, dressed in traditional attire and performing in synchrony to authentic traditional rhythms.

Planned as a celebration of Assam’s cultural richness, the event seeks to place indigenous art forms on the global stage. The massive gathering of performers and their coordinated presentation are expected to make the occasion memorable, symbolising unity, heritage, and cultural pride, while also attempting to create a world record.
