
Mumbai: Legendary actor Dharmendra, often hailed as the ‘He-Man of Indian Cinema’, passed away on November 24, Monday at the age of 89, leaving the Indian film fraternity and millions of admirers in mourning. His demise marks the close of one of Bollywood’s most influential and enduring chapters.
Across a prolific career spanning more than 60 years, Dharmendra appeared in over 300 films, shaping the landscape of mainstream Hindi cinema with his powerful screen presence, effortless charm, and emotional range. From action-packed roles to romantic classics and heartwarming family dramas, his performances in films such as Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Anupama, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and Dost continue to remain etched in public memory.
Honoured with the Padma Bhushan, Dharmendra was widely respected not only as a cinematic icon but also for his humility, warmth, and deep connection with his audience. Generations of cinema lovers regarded him as a star who remained relatable both on and off the screen.

He is survived by his wives Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, and his six children, including acclaimed actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, who have carried forward his legacy within the film industry.
