The 14th Dalai Lama has earned his first-ever Grammy nomination in the Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording category for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 1, 2026. His spoken-word album, Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which explores his teachings on compassion, peace, and inner well-being, marks the Tibetan spiritual leader’s debut on the Grammy stage.
The project is a cross-cultural collaboration that pairs the Dalai Lama’s profound insights with the artistry of Indian sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan and his sons. It also features contributions from international musicians including Andra Day, Maggie Rogers, and Rufus Wainwright. Produced by multi-Grammy winner Kabir Sehgal, the album has been described by Amjad Ali Khan as a “profound privilege,” crafted to inspire reflection and human connection.
The nomination emphasises the global resonance of the Dalai Lama’s message and places the Nobel Peace Laureate alongside fellow nominees such as Trevor Noah and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
