With the upcoming Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Facility in forthcoming Electronic City  in Jagiroad , Assam is poised to become a significant player in the global semiconductor industry .  This ₹27,000 crore project  is scheduled to start production by December 2025 this was announced by the  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the inaugural day of the Budget Session in Kokrajhar today .    This  facility aims to bolster India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, driving technological advancements in the region and  is expected to generate approximately 27,000 jobs, significantly boosting the local economy .
