GUWAHATI: Former AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi has been appointed as the president of the newly floated political party Assam Jatiya Parisad (AJP) on Thursday.

Gogoi joined the newly formed regional party on Wednesday during its ongoing general convention in Sivasagar, Assam.

Along with Gogoi , Pabindra Deka and Jagadish Bhuyan, former AGP leaders who had resigned from the party earlier were appointed as the working president and general secretary of AJP.

The AJP was formed with the backing of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) .
