Guwahati : Diban Deka, a BJP leader and one of the prime accused in the sub-inspector (SI) recruitment scam, surrendered before Assam Police.

Late night on Wednesday, he surrendered before Patacharkuchi police under Bajali district. He has been brought to Guwahati for interrogation by a team of police led by the Assam Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) GP Singh. He had been absconding since the scam came to light.

PK Dutta, former Director-General of Police (DIG) and the other prime accused in the SI exam paper leak scam is still absconding. Easlier Assam Police had announced a monetary reward of Rs 1 lakh for people providing information on the whereabouts of Diban Deka and PK Dutta
