Imphal, Sept 18, 2020: Chief minister N Biren Singh today inaugurated
five different projects and laid foundation stones for 46 others at a
function held at his office secretariat complex in Imphal. The total
estimated cost of these projects is Rs 180 crores.

Speaking at the occasion, Biren said that since the hill districts of
the state are less developed as compared with the valley districts,
his government is giving priority to development of hill areas .

Pointing out  that various developmental projects are being taken up
in different parts of hill districts, the chief minister exuded
confidence that people would be able to see a landscape change in
hills  when these projects are completed.

He added that transit accommodations for doctors, nurses and teachers
are being constructed at 19 different places in many hill districts
and Jiribam district.

Among these places , accommodations at Churachandpur district
headquarters, Singhat in Churachandpur district and Borobekara in
Jiribam were inaugurated today, while works at the remaining places
would be completed by December this year.

100 SM two-storied barrack with toilet facility at Manipur Police
Training College at the Pangei area and Model Police Station at
Porompat, both in Imphal East district were also inaugurated at the
occasion.

He added that there would be no problem for accommodation for the
doctors, nurses and teachers posted in these areas once these
accommodations are ready.

In order to provide air connectivity to Manipur’s interior areas like
Thanlon and Parbung  at an affordable price and to boost air tourism,
heliports would be constructed at Tamenglong, Thanlon, Parbung, Moreh
and Jiribam, informed Biren.

It is encouraging to see that nowadays there is less disturbance in
taking up developmental projects in hills, and the reason for it, the
CM asserted is the  people’s faith and support to the present
government.

Pertaining to Henglep road construction in Churachandpur district, the
CM clarified that the project halted halfway after a good progress at
initial stages owing to a complaint made by an ex-MLA to the North
Eastern Council.

Works for this project will, however, start soon, Biren said, while
observing that development works should never be politicalized by
anybody.
