Schools in Assam will reopen on September 21, 2020 . The state government has issued SOPs and guidelines for the same.

Assam government has decided to reopen schools for Classes 9 to 12 as per Unlock 4.0 guidelines from September 21 onwards. As per the guidelines, students from Classes 9 to 12 will be allowed to attend the classes, while all other classes will continue to remain suspended. 


It further stated in the guideline that the students will be attending the classes only three days a week. For class 9 and 12, classes will be conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On the other hand, for students of class 10 and 11, classes will be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. To ensure that the total number of students in a batch is less than 20 , for every class having more than 20 students, the students will be divided into two batches. The first batch of students will come to school from 9-12 am, for the second batch of students classes will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm.


The school authorities will ensure the students of first batch leave the school before the commencement of the classes for the second batch.


The SOPs also mention that students attendance is voluntary subject to their parents consent & an undertaking or confirmation in this regard must be submitted by the students to the school authorities. The guideline also suggested to restrict the total number of teaching, as well as non-teaching staff in schools to 50%.
